- Since your dad is in the US, PAL monitors wouldn't do you any good. There
- are a number of good used monitors available. If there are any local used
- computer stores, check them out and ask for a monitor that is Commodore
- compatible. When they get through laughing, ask for any monitor that has
- a composite input. Some CGA monitors had such an input in addition to the
- 9-pin RGB connector, and these will work fine with your C64. In addition,
- a CGA monitor can also be used on a 128 in 80-column mode, so if you ever
- upgrade, you will have the monitor that works with it.
- They may not even laugh, either. I asked the same question at a local
- computer store here in Iowa, and the guy said "How about a Commodore
- 1702?" So it is possible to get them.
-
- If all else fails, hook the C64 up to a regular TV. Someone said the RF
- modulators suck, and they're right, so if you can get a TV that has a
- "Video IN" jack, use that. Look on the back before you buy it. The Video
- IN is just standard composite video. In fact, many VCR's have a Video IN
- jack, and you can plug your C64 in there, and then to your TV. The
- quality will be better than from the C64 modulator.
-
- Hope this helps!
